What Works For You

What Works For You

The world of fitness is a very diverse topic, as what works for one person may not work for the next. There are many conflicting ideas when trying to become your best person, but what works best is what works for you. It is very important to try different styles of training to find what gives you the most return for your effort. However, returns on your effort are not the most important factor, as enjoying physical activity will take you much further. There are many different types of physical activity and many different activities. Your only task to becoming healthy is enjoying just one of those activities. It is understandably difficult to start going to the gym, but to start going on runs or biking is very easy. Only by your effort will you ever see results, as effort is typically directly proportional to your results.

It is very important to stay active while not being motivated by your results. External factors such as your results are not within your control, so once a plateau is reached, you may fall out of staying active altogether. To stay motivated, find motivation internally. Motivation can be found through personal goals, the need for autonomy, or even just the enjoyment of an activity. To stay intrinsically motivated, avoid only staying active to receive a reward, such as a trophy or results in general. This does not mean that results shouldn’t motivate you, but that you should not focus entirely on the effects of your effort. Although, it must be said that any motivation is better than none, as you will get nowhere without it. And, just like motivation, any physical activity is much better for you than none. Don’t let a lack of results stop you from bettering yourself; there are results wherever you look close enough.
